For my vector illustration, I chose an image of my horse, Armani, and I. My favorite application to use ended up being Illustrator and I can see myself using it in the future.

Final Project
The final project was to compile all of our work into an InDesign file. I really enjoyed working with InDesign and found it extremely efficient. I added extra pages to describe my thoughts behind the cover and a piece about myself. Enjoy!
Jellyfish
For my second project, I chose to incorporate lyrics from Jack Johnson's song "Bubble Toes"... for this image, I chose to take the image literally and insert three different jellyfish into a background I made from two separate images.
Self Insertion
I found this project to be one of my favorites because I put place myself somewhere I had never been. I chose the "Stairway to Heaven" a once popular hiking trail in the volcanic mountains of Hawai'i. I had a really difficult time extracting my image because of the background it was once on. However, once my image was extracted it was really easy for me to insert myself and change the saturation to match.

Assignment Two
The goal of assignment two was to complete a digital drawing from a sketch created in class. I liked the mechanical or geometric look of the head in the drawing so I decided to continue with that style throughout the drawing. I experimented with the star shape tool to provide a funky background. In the foreground I discovered the use of transparency to create an ocean while allowing the audience to still see the clean lines and work I put into his tail. I added some straight lines throughout the body to show minor definition while still trying to keep the image as mechanical as possible. This drawing was a lot of fun to recreate and personalize! :)
The original drawing is below first, followed by my digital drawing.

Welcome - About the Artist
Hi, my name is Katie Kronheim! I am currently a student at the University of Tampa studying biology for secondary education. I wish to be an environmental science or biology teacher.
In addition to my studies, I am an equestrian. My horse, Armani, is a ten year-old Rheinland Pfalz-saar International warmblood. We compete in Hunter and Equitation divisions at rated horse shows throughout Florida. The hunter division is judged on the horse where as the equitation division judges the rider. On top of all that, I am a part of the University of Tampa Equestrian Team. My job is Horse Show Coordinator which means I ensure that all our team riders are prepared for the horse show as well as organizing our transportation and hotel stays to and from the horse show locations.
When I am not riding at the barn, I am spending time with my dog Kona. She is a four year old American Staffordshire terrier and boxer mix. Kona spends a lot of time with me at the barn as well as trips to the dog beach on weekends.
I am currently enrolled in a digital design course. I am incredibly excited about this course because I have always had an interest in digital art as well as animation. I believe this class will help me be a better teacher because I will be able to create and design my own diagrams and other teaching material. Being able to create my own resources in the classroom can help my students understand and grasp concepts that might otherwise be complicated without a visual representation. I'm incredibly excited to learn how to use applications such as illustrator and photoshop. This blog will contain all my work as well as artist statements and reflections on my pieces. Thanks for stopping by!!
